Meet Our Principal Instructor

With over a decade of teaching dance, Suzana Sainol is the founder and principal instructor of Singapore's leading Cuban-style salsa dance school, Salsa Cubana Singapore. As a pioneer of Cuban and Afro-Cuban dance styles in Singapore, Suzana blends technical knowledge with cultural storytelling, giving students more than just dance steps. Through her teaching, she offers a deeper connection to the dance's history and rhythm, ensuring respect for the culture.

Specializing in Cuban-style Salsa (Salsa Cubana) and Rueda de Casino, this energetic and social partner dance has gained visibility in Singapore over the years through Suzana's passion and dedication to sharing the rich cultural roots of Afro-Cuban music and dance by bringing in Cuban Maestros, such as Alfredo Garcia, and many others over the years.

An experienced and intuitive teacher, she teaches both lead and follow roles with clarity and patience. Her ability to break down technique and musicality into accessible, bite-sized guidance makes her classes suitable for all levels — from first-timers to experienced dancers. Each session is relaxed and fun, with personal attention and group energy working hand-in-hand. With her assistant instructors, Suzana and her team have cultivated a vibrant space where learning is joyful, progress is encouraged, and confidence grows.

Salsa Cubana in Singapore

Cuban-style salsa, or "Casino," is a dynamic and social form of salsa dancing that blends African and Cuban rhythms with lively partner work, playful footwork, and expressive body movement. Unlike linear salsa styles (LA, New York/Mambo), Casino is danced in a circular motion, emphasizing connection, rhythm, and improvisation. A unique highlight is the Rueda de Casino ("wheel of Casino"), where multiple couples dance together in a circle, continuously swapping partners as a caller leads the group through synchronized moves and playful combinations. The result is a high-energy, interactive experience that's as much about community and joy as it is about dance.
